Moment of Happiness: Meditation in Motion

Happiness doesn’t have to be big or loud. In fact, it often tiptoes in during small moments. The Happiness Project is designed to capture those moments and inspire—based on how the compact can have so much consequence. Here is an example from Enrique Rubio, Founder, Hacking HR:

Moment of Happiness

Running brings me joy and happiness. I am a trail ultrarunner (that’s someone who is insane enough to run super long distances on the trails!). Running is my meditation in motion. I am too hyperactive and impatient to sit through passive meditation. So I came up with this idea that we can also be in a meditative state while moving… and while running. I don’t listen to music, ever, though recently I started listening to audiobooks while running since I spend so much time in the sport. The funny thing about running is that it is not always glamorous. One gets physically tired (sometimes depleted), often muscles and joints could hurt after a long run and, even worse, when tripping on rocks or roots and falling down! Yet, all of that is “part of the show”. They make me better in the art of running and, therefore, they too, though painful as they may sound, also bring me happiness. I am the best and happiest version of myself while running.
