Happiness doesn’t have to be big or loud. In fact, it often tiptoes in during small moments. The Happiness Project is designed to capture those moments and inspire—based on how the compact can have so much consequence. Here is an example from Leonie Tomppert who lives in Germany and is an intern at SAP and a student at ESB Business School, Reutlingen University:
Moment of Happiness
There are a variety of things that make me happy:
My sister: No one knows me as well as my sister. We understand each other without words and have always been very close. Moments of happiness are when we are spending time together, laughing and talking about anything.
Being with close friends and my sister makes me very happy. We know each other very well and often even think the same thing at the same time. There is a feeling of trust when we are together and every one of us can just be ourselves. Moments of happiness are when we are spending time with each other, laugh, and talk about anything.
Dogs: I grew up with animals and accordingly have always perceived the presence of them as something entirely positive. Long walks in nature with a dog recharges my batteries, makes me feel more in the moment, and give me a feeling of happiness.
Defining Happiness
My definition of happiness has to do with enjoying the moment and being aware of it. For me, this has mostly to do with small things: the cup of coffee in the morning, rays of sunshine, flowers blooming in spring, jogging on a beautiful day, the sound of my grandparents’ laughter, or enjoying a good meal with friends.
